Amy Herot - CPDT

Amy has had a life-long passion for animals and has been professionally working with dogs for over ten years.  Amy is nationally certified through the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers (CCPDT) and is a graduate of the Balu Academy for Dog Trainers, and John Rogerson’s Advanced Instructor’s Course.  She holds a Bachelor of Science from NYU and continues to attend workshops and seminars on canine behavior and training. Amy is also an AKC Canine Good Citizen evaluator, and is certified in Pet First Aid and CPR.  She is a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT), Southern California Dog Trainers’ Forum (SCDTF), and West Los Angeles Obedience Training Club. In addition to the above she and her dog Maya are a nationally certified Narcotics Detection team.

Amy’s other canine working partner is a German Shepherd mix named Jesse. Jesse, a Canine Good Citizen, assists Amy in many training classes and regularly works as a canine ambassador for spcaLA’s Humane Education and training departments.

Some of Amy’s other achievements have been the, spcaLA 2005 Outstanding H.E.A.L. (Helping Enhance Animals Lives) Volunteer, spcaLA 2006 Volunteer of the Year, and 3rd place in Narcotics Detection at the 2006 Gold Coast K9 Working Dog Trials.

Amy has been with Sirius since 2004.  She has taught all levels of the obedience classes and is one the instructors for the basic and advanced narcotics detection classes.
