BASIC NARCOTICS DETECTION COURSE

Class date: Fall 2008. (Date & Time TBA)

Location: Held at the Sirius K9 Academy in Yorba Linda.

Instructor: Ron Gaunt.

Prerequisite: All dogs will be evaluated on the first day of class. (Dogs available upon request.) You must sign up for this class. Please call Caroline Haldeman at 714-296-9714 to sign up. This course will introduce you and your dog to basic narcotics detection including building your dog's hunt drive and search desire, expanding the dog's attention space, problem solving, documentation, proofing, building credibility & confidence, drug identification, safety, and more. A nationally recognized certification opportunity will be offered upon graduation.

Cost: $1,250.

BASIC GROUP OBEDIENCE
(WEDNESDAYS 6:30–7:30pm/SUNDAYS 11am – 12pm) (8-week Group Class.)

Please note: The first and last weeknight classes are at 6pm and a class may be split into two classes depending on class size. Dogs do not come to the first class! But please bring your dog’s vaccination records. We encourage the entire family to attend. The first class is approximately 2 hours long.

Yorba Linda (Sirius K9 Location) 2008 Class Dates:

INTERMEDIATE GROUP OBEDIENCE
(WEDNESDAYS 8pm - 9pm/SATURDAYS 11am – 12pm) Drop-in class. Held at the Sirius K9 Academy in Yorba Linda. You do not need to sign up for this class, just show up! This is an on-going class that is great for companion, working, service, & therapy dogs, and to help prepare your dog for the CGC test.

“FIELD TRIP” GROUP OBEDIENCE CLASS

This class will take you and your dog to distracting locations including shopping centers, malls, parks, the beach, etc. This class is great for companion, working, service, & therapy dogs.

TRICK CLASS

This six (6) week class will teach your dog to play dead, high five, crawl, speak, shake, and more!

Prerequisite: Your dog must be able to pass our basic obedience test.

THERAPY DOG TRAINING
Start Date: September 18th @ 7:15pm
(Sept 18th – Oct 30th - No class Oct 9th)

Location: Sirius K9 Academy in Yorba Linda.

This six (6) week class is designed to prepare human/dog teams for visiting hospitals, senior living facilities, and other facilities where handicapped, ill, or disadvantaged people reside for the purpose of providing dog assisted therapy. The class will focus on the correct handling of the dog in therapy situations and the obedience skills required to pass the Therapy Dog International (TDI) or Bright & Beautiful Therapy Dog tests.

Instructor: Robert Newman. Mr. Newman has taught Dog Obedience and Therapy Dog classes for six years and several of his own dogs, including two Chihuahuas, a Bordie Collie, and a Pharaoh Hound, have all been certified as Therapy Dogs.

Prerequisite: Dogs must be at least one year old and handlers must be at least 16 years old. All dogs attending must be able to pass our Basic Obedience test and have attended at least (2) intermediate group obedience classes at our facility or have completed an intermediate obedience private lesson with Caroline Haldeman. Following the class, a TDI or Bright and Beautiful Therapy Dog test will be administered for those teams that would like to test. A separate nominal fee will be charged by the TDI & Bright and Beautiful Therapy Dog evaluators if a team elects to be tested. Bring the dog to the first class. Owner must provide proof of current vaccinations.

AKC CANINE GOOD CITIZEN CERTIFICATION TESTING

Test date & Time:  Tuesday September 2nd @ 7:30pm

Location: Sirius K9 Academy in Yorba Linda.

Cost: $20. to test + $5. for certificate ($25. total)
